I make them with my granddaughter using Rhodes rolls. My mom was one of those Italian Americans in the Clarksburg area. Both grandfathers were coal miners. I also love the chili dogs from there. We got them at the Parkette(sp). Have never been able to duplicate the chili recipe though I have tried many recipes thru the internet. Love those pepperoni rolls though. I normally let the mixture cool down and then let it stand over night in the fridge. The flavours really infuse and the mixture thickens up.
